System Description
The Hofn system is located in Spinward Sector of the Deep Periphery, close to the border of the Coreward sector and close to or partially within the Vela Nebula.[2] The Hofn system consists of a class K6V primary orbited by at least seven worlds and is located close to the Ålborg and Trondheim systems.[1]
System History
The Hofn system was colonized at some point after the founding of the first JàrnFòlk colony on Ålborg in 2504.[3]

Hofn IV - more commonly known as Hofn - is a stormy, largely water-covered world with three moons named Geyser, Jockulsarlon and Myvatn.[1]
Planetary History
With all bar a twentieth of the surface of Hofn covered by water, the Jàrnfòlk who colonised the planet established subterranean settlements, away from the mighty storms that raged across the oceans. each settlement on Hofn was generally home to one extended family under normal circumstances. The storms produced endless energy via the wind turbines facilities on the few archipelagos. A major export product from Hofn was fish from the vast oceans.[1]
The population of Hofn shared a common culture with the other Jàrnfòlk - named for the Jàrnskib, or "iron ships" that brought them to their new homeworld - which had evolved during the time in which the colonists spent their time as itinerant explorers and traders, fleeing the Draconis Combine depredations inflicted on the Rasalhague Principality worlds. The JàrnFòlk culture was based on the Scandinavian traditions preserved by the original refugees, and the population of Hofn was kept in check by the feuding and rough lifestyle common to the JàrnFòlk. The population was divided between the subsidiary families, descended from the crews of the original JàrnFòlk ships, while the nine ruling families were descended from the command staff of the nine ships.[3]
While the JàrnFòlk language was a blend of several ancient Scandinavian languages, primarily - but not limited do - Danish and Old Norse, Hofn had evolved a distinct dialect unique to itself but comprehensible to the people of the other Jàrnfòlk worlds, a linguistic shift echoed on each of the other planets.[3]
Political Affiliation
Geography
Hofn is almost entirely covered with water, and as a result storms rage across the planet-spanning oceans.[1]
