Project: Planets

This project aims to foster better articles for planetary (and other relevant) systems on BattleTechWiki. This page and its subpages contain suggestions on formatting and layout of articles, which can be discussed on the project's various talk pages.

Project: Planets is in the midst of a major overhaul to all the (approximately 2,900) planet articles. Each article is being 'upgraded' in a manner intended a) to present planets within the context of star systems, b) highlight the text information provided for each planet within the canon and c) ensure the factual nature of the information presented. This effort is anticipated to require a large number of dedicated and task-driven team members or a small number of team members working over years. While we intend to strike out with whom ever provides us with their time and initiative, we hope to enjoy the assistance of numbers.

To participate or express interest, simply add your name in the To Join section.

To do list

  1. Add new planetary articles as they are added to the canon (and pass the moratorium period)
  2. Proceed with the Overhaul effort
  3. Add additional information to existing articles as canon material becomes available
  4. Ensure categorizations of planets meet post-Overhaul standards
  5. Additional taskings as they develop post-Overhaul

New articles needed (edit)

To be added as they become available, meeting Overhaul template standards (rather than the auto-template standards)

I re-generated all of the "nearby planets" images for the planets. Changes include:
Changing the X values of nearby planets to be their correct values -- previously, the nearby planet's X values were reversed, so it was like looking into a mirror.
Decreasing the font size and line-weight of nearby planets to make the image less crowded.
Coloring planet names for factions in specific colors to show friendly/hostile neighbors.
