Origins[edit]

In 2799, the Free Worlds League captured Alula Australis from the Lyran Commonwealth. Rather than be destroyed, the defending mercenary commander offered Captain-General Kenyon Marik a pledge of loyalty. The newly pledged mercenaries would become the core of the Steel Guard, with José Stroud founding what would be a hereditary command position.[1]
