Colonel Jimmy "Jayhawk" Lee commanded the 5th Defenders of Andurien regiment as of 3025, and was still in command of the unit during the Andurien/Canopian invasion of the Capellan Confederation. He was last mentioned (as Colonel Lee) for authorizing his unit's successful raid of the Jasmine system in May 3031.
His fate is unknown. According to apocryphal information, he ejected from his BattleMaster when it was destroyed during the Andurien/Canopian attacks on Betelgeuse II.
Canonicity
Jimmy "Jayhawk" Lee is mentioned as a minor character in several canonical sources, where he is listed as the regimental commander of the 5th Defenders of Andurien.
In the (apocryphal) expanded German edition of the Technical Readout: 3026 (German: Hardware-Handbuch 3031) he also features in the writeup for the Cataphract .
Apocryphal information
According to Hardware-Handbuch 3031, Jimmy "Jayhawk" Lee was involved in the unsuccessul Andurien offensive against the BattleMech factories on Betelgeuse II. Known for his choleric temperament, Lee is described to have put himself at the point of the attack force after a series of setbacks, and sworn to secure the factories for Andurien within the day. To this end, he ordered a frontal assault by several companies against the factories, while personally leading another strike force through the jungle to attack the factories from behind. Warrior House Kamata had expected this tactic though, and had mined the factories' jungle flank. When Lee pressed the attack, his damaged BattleMaster was defeated by House Kamata Commander Kalidas Aniro (piloting a Cataphract). Seeing their commander eject routed the remaining Andurien attackers.
While this source explicitly describes him as the commanding officer of the 5th Defenders of Andurien, the extensive coverage of the conflict in Historical: Brush Wars does not place this particular unit on Betelgeuse throughout the conflict. Instead, the 1st Defenders of Andurien (under General Xeng Garibaldi) and later also the 3rd and 4th fought on this planet. However, this does not technically rule out the possibility that Colonel Lee could have been involved in the fighting at some point, separate from his regiment.
