Kalvin Rosse was a Bloodnamed Trueborn warrior from Clan Nova Cat.

History[edit]

He was an officer in the 1st Nova Cat Guards and could not accept that Star Colonel Kothinur Gritas masqueraded the unit as other ones during its raids. In an effort to stop the deceptive masquerades as other units which he saw as dishonorable, Rosse challenged and defeated Kothinur Gritas just before Operation BULLDOG.[1] Prior to Kalvin Rosse taking command, the First Guards were used extensively by saKhan Carns to train new Nova Cat commands in anti-Inner Sphere tactics. This was seen as solahma duty by many of the First's warriors, and stopping the practice as much as possible made Rosse very popular with the warriors under his command.[2]

In 3059 Rosse came up with the idea of a Trial of Position–style Trial of Possession for Avon in order to limit damage.[3] On 2 June Rosse and Star Captain Dara Nostra achieved kills on five of their six SLDF opponents, three of those by Rosse. In order to avoid winning, Rosse turned on Nostra and crippled her Huntsman before being brought down by the remaining SLDF BattleMech. This allowed Rosse to retain the rank of Star Colonel with four kills, and the SLDF to succeed in the Trial.[4]

On 26 May 3077 Rosse and the Guards earned infamy for their actions outside New Edinburgh on Stewart. Following the refusal of Word of Blake forces to surrender, Rosse declared a Trial of Annihilation against them. Shocked at the ensuing massacre, the citizens rose against the Guards, even crashing an explosive-laden Planetlifter into their DropShip. The Guards then proceeded to slaughter anyone within weapons range of their defensive positions.[5]

BattleMech[edit]

Rosse piloted a Timber Wolf Prime.[4]
