Loyal Son
Vessel Profile
TypeDropShip
ClassOverlord

History[edit]

The Loyal Son was an Overlord-class DropShip. Alongside its sister ship Heritage it served as a carrier for the Third Assault Avatars, a mixed battalion of heavy and assault combat vehicles with the Blue Star Irregulars' Twenty-First Rim Worlds regiment. This seems to suggest it was modified to carry vehicles instead of BattleMechs.[1]

Both vessels were slated to evacuate civilians from Black Earth in January 3069 when Clan Jade Falcon returned to retake the world.[1] Forgoing Clan customs, the Jade Falcons specifically gunned for the fleeing DropShips and JumpShips, destroying most of them and effectively wiping out the Blue Star Irregulars.

The Loyal Son was the only Blue Star Irregulars vessel to escape, on the single JumpShip that managed to jump out. Daffyd Porter, an INN reporter aboard the Loyal Son, witnessed the naval battle as the Fredasa-class WarShip Kerensky's Blues, operated by the Blue Star Irregulars, attempted to escort fleeing Irregulars forces and civilians to waiting JumpShips.[1][2][3] The Loyal Son was able to observe the Kerensky's Blues disabling or driving off the Vincent-class corvette CJF Lightning Strike[1][3] before being destroyed by a heavier Congress-class Jade Falcon WarShip, which was also responsible for destroying a number of DropShips and JumpShips and butchering the bulk of the fleeing Blue Star Irregulars.[1][2][3]
