Description

The Lysander Class Submarine-Carrier creation of Draconis Combine during the Late 3040s, by order of Theodore Kurita. The carrier was created due to the difficulties the DCMS encountered on water covered worlds during the War of 3039, such as Athenry.

The Lysander was created to provide substantial presence at sea and provide mobile base for Aerospace craft due to threat of orbital threats. By creating a submarine carrier, this allow for this allows protection of Aerospace assets.

Due to the ship's design size, the Lysanders built by companies on respective water dominated worlds. Ship's costs allow for companies on those worlds to turn considerable profit. These ship saw action during the Combine-Ghost Bear War, where some ships of the class were deployed at sea for up to six month.[2]

Armaments & Capacities

The Lysanders are design to carry four squadrons of Aerospace type aircraft which act as the ship principle offensive weapon. Usually, Lysanders typically carry three fighter type aircraft squadrons while carry single squadron worth of VTOL.

Weapons on the Lysanders includes eight ER Large Lasers mounted single Turret with six ER Medium Lasers. Mounted in the ship's front/bow are four additional ER Larger Lasers, four Long-Range Torpedoes 20-tube Launchers, and four Short-Range Torpedo 6-tube launchers. Another four rear-firing Short-Range Torpedo 6-tube launchers provided in rear/aft section. All ship's weapons are guided by a Advance Fire Control.

For Artillery support, the ship carries eight octet of box-launched Arrow IV launchers. The Launchers are given forty rounds of ammunition. The ship carries 8 tons ammunition for its SR Torpedoes and while 4 tons for the LRs Launchers.

The ship is protected by 1,389 tons of Standard Armor and receives additional protection from a Guardian ECM.

In addition to its fighter compliment, infantry detachments are sometimes assigned to the ship.

Cargo

The ship carries 2,549 tons of standard cargo, which used to supply the ship on long voyages and sustain is aerospace compliment.

The ship has three Heavy Vehicle Bays with doors mounted in the rear of the ship.

Design Notes

The ship features a Submersible, Armored Chassis and Control Modifications. It has flight deck, 4 heliopads, 2 field kitchens, 30 lifeboats, 30 fighter bays, 40 second-class passenger quarters, 200 crew quarters, MASH unit, and communication gear.

Notes

As of this writing, there are no published record sheets for this support vessel. Also, the imagine for the vehicle shows a submarine docking with the ship, however there no information in the article that supports its ability to carry smaller subs.
