The New Samarkand Regulars were created after the Jihad ended. They were not simply renamed units of the Galedon Regulars, but several former Dieron Regulars units were renamed as New Samarkand Regulars.

History
The New Samarkand Regulars were formed when the Galedon Military District was renamed the New Samarkand Military District after the Jihad. The Second, Twelfth, and Twenty-Second New Samarkand Regulars were formerly Dieron Regular units, but when the Dieron Military District was ceded to the Republic of the Sphere these units were reassigned and renamed. The New Samarkand Regulars frequently fight alongside the Galedon Regulars, and both units respect each other.[1]
The New Samarkand Regulars sent the Third Regiment to Vega in 3133 in an attempt to bring Vega into the Combine, but were repelled.[2]
