History

Omega Galaxy was created in 3052 as a security force for the Steel Viper supply chain in the Inner Sphere.[1]

The Galaxy was tasked with defending their Clan's Inner Sphere holdings, and their commanding officer took this duty seriously. After the Vipers were ejected from the Inner Sphere, Omega Galaxy's morale was destroyed. The unit quickly became a dumping ground for dezgra warriors and other malcontents in the Viper touman.[2]

IlKhan Andrews' violation of the Council's rules and traditions by shooting Khan N'Buta during the meeting pushed the Cloud Cobra Khan Hollyann Kardaan to condemn the act as evidence of the Steel Vipers' corruption, calling for an Annihilation of the Clan. Unable to fight off the combined home world Clans the Vipers and Omega Galaxy were wiped out in 3075. Omega were defending New Kent when a combined Clan force attacked in December. After an epic naval battle that saw over 500 Viper fighters engage and destroyed the last of the Viper capitol ships the Clans landed. Over a quarter of the transport DropShips had been destroyed in space and the ground batteries took a further toll. The Blood Spirit's land first followed by the Stone Lions, silencing the batteries and allowing the rest of the assault force to land. After a week of fighting the Vipers including Omega Galaxy were surrounded. The final assault eventually came after a lull in fighting, but the Vipers turn the shattered street of New Kent City into a fortress and could not be dislodged. As the casualties mounted the new ilKhan recalled his forces and obliterated the city and all surviving Steel Vipers with an orbital bombardment.[3]

Officers

As of 3061 to 3067 the commanding officer was Galaxy Commander Antonius Cochraine.[1][4] There was some concern that the unit's ejection from the Inner Sphere affected Cochraine's mental stability.[2]

Tactics

Omega's Clusters were willing to use any tactic to defend their worlds. They saw their postings as a position of honor, and believed that their Clan's honor was more important than their unit's honor. Therefore they would ignore zellbrigen, fight in cities, and use ambushes.[1]
