Operation: Steel Hammer - This was a military operation conducted by the Word of Blake during early years of the Jihad in the Lyran Alliance. The operation disrupted Lyran's economic and industrial resources.
Operation Brief
The operation was planned to strike three major Lyran worlds: Hesperus II, Donegal, and Coventry.
Hesperus II
Hesperus II operation was conducted in phases. In first phase 16th & 22nd Divisions conducted extensive raiding against the planet's defenders which begun in 3068. Over the course of proximily two years commandos/agents of Light of Mankind were inserted on the planet, while using the raids as a cover.
In 3070, Blakist Invasion force arrived in form of 38th Division & 40th Shadow Division. The force was escorted by the Lola III Class Destroyer, End of Wisdom and a reinforce Level II of Pocket WarShips. The Invasion's escort fleet overwhelmed and destroyed the Lyran Fox Class Corvette, LAS Melissa Steiner, effectively blockading the planet. The two divisions landed on the planet, where 40th lead a lightning strike against factory's defenders and quickly over whelmed them. The Blakist brought Terran technicians to updating and running the factory for Blakist forces. This resulted improving the factory's output. Various Blakist military units used factory refit and resupply themselves during this time period. Devlin Stone's Coalition struck Hesperus in November, 3074 in battle with 38th and the 40th Divisions for control of the planet. Badly mauled, the these unit withdrew from the planet. It speculated that 40th Shadow survivors may have gone cover to conduct sabotage efforts against the planet's controls.[1]
Donegal
The Blake's used similar methods for invasion of Donegal. In 3068, Second Division conducted raids against the planet three times. During these raids, the Second raid's help seeded Level II of troops, some ROM agents, and tactical nuclear weapons.
The Second lead invasion force in 3070 where they conducted full fledge invasion of the planet and its orbital complexes. While orbital complexes fell to Blakist forces easily, ground invasion took week of heavy attacks on civilian centers and brutalizing industrial complexes of the planet. The planet's remaining resources were put online to supply Word with needed resources to resupply its fighting units. In same year, small Lyran relief force attempted break the blockcade. Lead by Fox Corvette, LAS Ian McQuiston, the relief force was force to withdraw by WoB WarShip Blakist's Redemption. Second Division was relief of it garrison duties and replaced by the 18th, 31st Divisions & the 50th Shadow Division.
On Feburary 3072, ComStar Precentor Martial Victor Davion lead a allied force consisting of Clan Wolf-in-Exile, ComStar & Lyran forces to liberate the planet. The Blakist elite forces concentrated fire power on ComStar & Clan forces, while mistakenly ignoring the Lyrans units. Causing heavy damage allied forces, the Blakist are forced to quit the planet. They set off two nuclear devices at key industrial complexes after withdrawing.[2]
