History and Tactics
Nothing is known about Ronald Ghost Bear's history as a Clan Ghost Bear MechWarrior.
Since his arrival to the Game World, "Roaring" Ronald Ghost Bear won two Championships in a row using his own tactic: the "all-or-nothing victories" and a trademark alpha strike finish.
He started the 3132 as one of the main contenders in the Grand Tournament.
On the first day of the Grant Tournament he was matched against "Jumping" Jelayna Mani in the Factory arena. The fight was one sided, with Ronald Ghost Bear winning in just under 40 seconds with his infamous, arctic-blue Kodiak "Ursa Rex" destroying Jelayna's custom Marauder II with the same ruthlessness that has made the Clan champion a favorite in the arenas.[1]
Ronald was scheduled to fight his second round against Patrick "Wonderboy" Wahlberg, thirtieth-ranked in that year. The combat was fought in the Iron Mountain. The moment the Clan-bred champion and his ride for this match, a modified Shadow Cat II attained line of sight to Patrick, the fight was over in less than the minute it had taken for line of sight to be established, with Ghost Bear's trademark disregard for heat levels and alpha-strike approach easily tearing Wahlberg apart. His third match on day three, he had been paired against "Blazing" Augr Steinhammar, ranked twenty-fourth, in the Steiner Coliseum. In another of Ronald's savage, all-or-nothing victories, Augr Steinhammar and his Atlas were annihilated in a brutal, three-minute fight.[3]
For his fourth match he had been paired against Armis "the Avenger" Hathaway in Hartford Gardens Arena. "Roaring" Ronald Ghost Bear (piloting a Black Hawk for the match) annihilated Armis and his Shadow Cat II with his trademark alpha strike finish, setting off a dazzling plasma explosion that Armis was lucky to walk away from.[4]
In the fifth round, he was paired to fight against "Magnificent" Mario LeMar, ranked twenty, in the Boreal Reach Arena. Compared to most fights on that round, that fight seemed almost anticlimactic. Ronald Ghost Bear, this time piloting a Thor, tore through LeMar's Warhammer IIC after only forty-six seconds, proving that even a heavier, more sophisticated opponent, could not match the ferocity of his all-or-nothing style of combat.[5]
For his semi-final match, he was paired against Omar "Demolition" Durand, ranked fourth, in Iron Mountain. Durand, driving a rare customized Cygnus, faced off against Ghost Bear's Mad Cat II in the winding tunnels, often delivering devastating hit-and-fade strikes with his paired heavy autocannons that ripped massive slabs of armor away from the Clan-born Champion's machine. Yet, despite a severe pounding, Ghost Bear gave as good as he got, relentlessly blazing away with a quartet of heavy lasers at every opportunity. The two gladiators continued this lethal game of cat and mouse for over ten minutes, an endurance record to any warrior who's ever squared off against "Roaring" Ronald, but in only half that time, it became clear that Durand's style was beginning to wear down his foe's patience. Ghost Bear, eager to end the duel with every volley, often overheated his 'Mech, pushing its sinks to the very point of shutdown several times. Indeed, it was only Durand's sense of chivalry, according to some, that spared the Champion from a more ignominious defeat that what he got.[6]
This ended his year's participation in the Grand Tournament.
After that he either retired, died, or went down hard as he was not even fighting for the 3135 Grand Tournament.[7]
BattleMechs
Ronald is known to pilot an arctic-blue Kodiak known as "Ursa Rex", though in order to compensate with his rivals, during the Grand Tournament he could pilot different 'Mechs.[1][2][4][5][6]
