Canonicity[edit]
I think we need an overall discussion on these clearly non-canon Mechs. Its ultimately confusing that MWO is the only game that receives this 'special' treatment when there are non-canon Mechs created in previous games, when it is a game that does not conform to BattleTech rules and does not play like it. It is my opinion that anything created for any Mech-related game remain non-canon and apocryphal. The Sun Spider and Roughneck are not on the Master Unit List nor do they appear in the board game, the BV is listed as Unknown, which should be the main criteria. It's silly that these require an entire 'canonicity' section as well, if this is the case that we are now 'canonizing' Mech game Mechs, then someone should go back through and start making 'canoncity' sections for every single one, including Mech Warrior 4 and further back. Me and others already done tons of work documenting apocrpyhal mechs into organized sections as it is currently stands. For now, reverting them to apocryphal is best until and if they ever appear on the MUL and in BT otherwise this subject is going to become muddier with sub-rules for apocryphal Thehawk (talk) 14:21, 22 March 2018 (EDT)
- As far as i know going back and making "canonicity" articles about 'Mechs from MW4V (as an example) is not possible because all the 'Mechs in that game are canon already even if specific variants are not. Also the design was declared canon by Randal Bills, personally I feel that it is ok to leave as is on good faith that CGL intend to properly canonize it in the future. in exactly the same manner as was done with 'Mechs from MW4, MC2 and hopefully not Mechassault --Dmon (talk) 18:01, 22 March 2018 (EDT)
- The only declaration I have seen is Randall Bills stating the lore is canon. This is why all other MWO variants of 'Mechs have apocryphal tags around them. If there is specific declarations on these 'Mechs and their designs, as opposed to lore, it should be cited.
