Planetary History

After the Jihad erupted Wetumpka was one of a number of Federated Suns Outback worlds to suffer predation from pirate bands operating from the Periphery. The Thumpers Assault Battalion, a mercenary BattleMech unit, was deployed in the region at the time and signed a contract with the Filtvelt Coalition after the formation of the splinter state; the Thumpers went on to both train the Filtvelt Military Academy training battalion and to assist the garrison forces on the nearby world of Marielund against the pirates.[20]
