The Eighty-third BattleMech Division was a part of the Star League Defense Force Regular Army.
History[edit]
The Eighty-third won the Best Division category of the SLDF's Third Martial Olympiad in 2648 held on Mars.[2][3]
By the mid-twenty-eighth century, the Eighty-third was stationed on Styk. After the Confederation–Suns Border War ended in early 2762, the Division was moved to the border but subsequently returned after an uneventful eighteen months.[1][4]
In 2764, the unit was assigned, as part of XXIV Corps, Fifth Army, to District 1 of the Capellan Confederation Military Region and then transferred to District 2 in 2765 to take part in the Periphery Uprising.[5]
During the Amaris Coup, the Division's Second Battalion, in danger of being overrun by Amaris loyalists, radioed the SLS Antietam Creek for extraction from Epsilon Eridani on 11 March 2767. A Colossus-class DropShip was sent to rendezvous, but a fuel pump failure forced them to ground at a remote SDLF Depot in the desert Shamus Mountains never to be seen again for hundreds of years.[6]
The Eighty-third was destroyed during the Hegemony Campaign.[5]
