Description[edit]

In the aftermath of the Jihad, with rapid rebuilding and repair necessary across the Inner Sphere, Waytani, Inc. found an opportunity to expand beyond PowerLoader production. The resulting Exo HaulerMech can lift no more than the smaller PowerLoader exoskeleton can — worried Inner Sphere powers were unwilling to allow something stronger in nonmilitary hands — but the ultralight IndustrialMech is better protected, aside from a lack of cockpit armor, and can handle more difficult terrain.[2]

Weapons and Equipment[edit]

Beyond Industrial TSM to give it a two-ton lifting capacity, the Exo does not include any built-in equipment. Instead, Waytani supplies plans for easily-built handheld tools, primarily nail and rivet guns. During the Dark Age, as Exos were repurposed for battlefield use, a range of handheld light weapons proliferated,[2] including flamers, machine guns and light machine guns, Magshot Gauss rifles, MML-3s, four-packs of Rocket Launcher 10s, and small lasers.[3]

Variants[edit]

  • HMX-1
An early version of the Exo, this variant lacks the Industrial TSM, leaving it with only a one-ton lifting capacity. BV (2.0) = 93.[2][4]
  • HMX-3M
An unofficial, but very easy, modification of the HMX-3, this combat-oriented variant adds an advanced fire control system. BV (2.0) = 108[2][6]

Design Quirks[edit]

The Exo is subject to the following Design Quirk:[2]
