The Florida Timbuktu Theater Militia was formed in 3043. Primarily used as a defensive unit, but they undertook several other nonmilitary tasks in their Periphery based operations area.[1]

After the Florida TTM was established, it took part in several scientific expeditions. The unit was assigned to guard a group of planetary surveyors who were working near the Circinus Federation. Later they supplied several protection and support teams to scientific expeditions in the Enders Cluster. These guard duties were well-suited to the Florida TTM, as their equipment wasn't top of the line and wouldn't be as effective on the battlefield.[1]
The Florida TTM was loyal to Katherine Steiner-Davion in the FedCom Civil War, but didn't participate in any combat actions.[2]
Though the Florida TTM didn't participate in the Jihad, a battalion of troops was transferred out of the unit to help rebuild the First Royal Guards.[3]
Dark Age[edit]
In 3145 the Florida TTM was still guarding the Commonwealth's Periphery border. They also hosted several representatives from the Rim Collection who were investigating the possibility of providing the Florida TTM with autocannons and ammunition. This would allow the Florida TTM to move away from the mostly energy weapon based loadout of their 'Mechs and vehicles.[4] At this time they were stationed at Halifax.[5]
After the formation of the Buena Collective in 3146, elements of the Florida TTM landed on Urjala and overthrew the government that was trying to secede from the Lyran Commonwealth.[6]
The Florida TTM landed on Ayacucho in 3147 in an attempt to force General Diego Widmer to dissolve the Buena Collective. They met the newly formed 2nd Collective Guards and engaged.[7] Prior to their deployment to Ayacucho the Quartermaster Corps sent the Florida TTM new recruits, equipment, and ammunition, bringing them to full strength. This battalion was able to easily match the two half-trained battalions of the Second Collective Guards but couldn't force them to surrender.[8]
In 3148, Task Force Kingbreaker (a battalion from 8th Lyran Regulars, 1st Buena Jaegers, and 1st Bolan Jaegers) landed on Ayacucho, and reinforced the Florida TTM. The combined forces ejected half of the Second Collective Guards, and captured the other half. Most of these troops were conscripts and later formed a unit supporting pro-Commonwealth forces, the First Buena Volunteers.[9]
On 24 June 3148, the Timbuktu Collective announced that the Florida TTM had joined the new nation as the 1st Timbuktu Guards.[10]

They haven't fought any large engagements yet but simulated battles showed that this command fights with their all.[1]
