Marta VanLeuven was an armor commander with the Insect Brigade mercenary unit during the early thirty-first century.[1]

VanLeuven, together with Boris Marius and Anton Grant, formed the crew of a Saracen tank named Cockroach in the Recon Lance of the Insect Brigade.
This crew were known for using ground cover to lob several salvos of their Saracen tank's LRMs from long range, before speeding to cover, and unleashing their SRMs once the target reached close range. While not a novel tactic, Cockroach's SRM ammo bin was generally loaded with inferno rounds, which often came as a surprise to enemy units.
During the Ronin Wars, Cockroach fought on Kandis, while the Insect Brigade were under contract with the Free Rasalhague Republic Valdherre of Kandis Uller Gledsson. The Insect Brigade as a whole was destroyed during this conflict, including the crew of Cockroach, who died when a machine gun fusillade from an enemy Locust penetrated their SRM ammo bin and ignited the infernos.[1][2][3]

VanLeuven crewed a Saracen medium hover tank named Cockroach, due to its distinctive and lengthy dual whip antenna.[1]
