The Mongrel Mob was one of the Pentagon Powers, a collection of warlord states living in the ruins of the Star League in Exile. The Mongrels occupied a portion of Circe's southern habitable zone.[1]

The Mongrel Mob was a coalition of warrior bands that could only be considered a government in the loosest sense. The Mob was held together by strength, charisma and hatred of the neighbouring Brotherhood of Fianna. Mongrel warriors did as they wished and took what they pleased, giving them a particularly infamous reputation. The Mongrels were well armed with a stunning diversity of war machines and aggressive, but lacked in military training or tactical acumen.[1]
When the Clans invaded the Pentagon Worlds, Clan Mongoose was assigned the task of conquering the Mob. The Mob struck first, launching several raids into the former Emerald Kingdom to attempt to exploit its collapse and steal resources. Remnant Junfa forces and the Brotherhood of Fianna assisted the Mongooses by fighting against the Mongrels, although the Clans misidentified this as Mongrel infighting until months later. The Mongooses easily defeated the poorly coordinated Mongrels when encountered, but lack of unit cohesion also meant defeating an individual band had no affect on the willingness of the others to submit. Despite the Mob's settlements falling to the Mongooses within the first week of their campaign the Clans became bogged down seeking and destroying Mongrel bands for months.[1]
