Description[edit]
The Omega was designed as a mobile laser battery, similar to the Flashman by the same manufacturer. Only one prototype was built in 2765. Soon after, it fell into the hands of Stefan Amaris when he conquered the Terran Hegemony during the Amaris Civil War, and he had it moved to Terra. It then disappeared after the liberation of Terra; presumably General Kerensky took it with him on the Exodus.
Weapons and Equipment[edit]
The Omega carries four large lasers and twelve medium lasers, and its 18 double heat sinks allow it to fire either set without heat buildup.
Canonicity[edit]
The Omega was only described in BattleTechnology, which is not counted as a canonical source anymore. Consequentially, the Omega must be considered apocryphal as well at this time. (A ruling by then-Line Developer Randall N. Bills to the effect that all 'Mechs from BattleTechnology are canonical was officially rescinded by his successor as Line Developer, Herbert A. Beas II.)
Notes[edit]
- The weapon location listing in the article includes an LRM-10 without ammunition. This weapon is not mentioned elsewhere and it would make the Omega exceed its total weight by exactly five tons, hence it is likely listed in error.
