Rafe Fraser was a lieutenant in the Eridani Light Horse who was a main protagonist in the Sendai Massacre.[3]

History[edit]

Around 2795, Rafe met Ellen, a young blonde woman recently recruited by the Eridani. He fell in love with her, and soon both began a relationship, and became married. By 2798 he had the rank of lieutenant and commanded a lance in the Fiftieth Heavy Cavalry Battalion, part of the Eridani Light Horse regiment of 151st Light Horse Regiment. On June 5th of that year, he was present at the Eridani's lowering of the flag ceremony on their headquarters of Sendai City, which signaled the end of their contract with the Draconis Combine. On June 9th he ate with his wife, Ellen Fraser, who shared her worries about the planetary administrator, Kol Dojiro, about the Eridanis' departure. He dismissed her concerns, thinking Dojiro won't do nothing stupid.[4]

On June 13th, Rafe departed from Sendai along with all the 50th. He was in space onboard the Red River when Lieutenant Mahault Carstens, Manny, told him that his wife was pregnant. They were then both called to a meeting, where the 50th's leader, Major Teller Kroger, informed them than Dojiro had seized their dependents' DropShips and threatened to execute them if the 50th and the 8th Recon didn't surrender to them. The next day, they were told that Dojiro had made real his threats. Rafe was devastated but also very furious.[5]

The same day, Rafe prepared his 'Mech for the assault on Sendai, when Manny talked with him about the defenders gathering on planet.[6]

On June 15th, Rafe led his lance into the assault of Aobayama City. There, he downed a Trooper before reaching Objective Eagle, the main administrative building in the city. Ignoring the fire they received, all his lance's members shot as it until it fell, before moving again. Rafe's 'Mech only suffered some armor damage in the fight.[7]

The next day, on the outskirts of Sendai City, Rafe was boarded by Manny while his 'Mech was being repaired, who asked him how he was. Fraser told her than he was fine, but hadn't slept in two days because he had bad dreams and was repressing her sadness.[8]

On June 18th, the Eridani assaulted Sendai City. Rafe's lance led the assault, and after being informed than a convoy was leaving the Administration District, they were send to intercept it, expecting Dojiro will be on it. They faced a Kuritan Warhammer, a Dragon, a Gladiator and a Marauder. The lance charged, with Rafe leading it. His men were left behind, but he didn't care. Facing the Dragon alone, he pursued the convoy, downing it. When faced by a Demon, Fraser's 'Mech lost its left arm before destroying the tank.[9]

After reaching the convoy, Rafe destroyed the several APCs with his weapons and physical attacks. Another Demon tank was buried under the rubble of a downed building. After immobilizing the limos, he saw Dojiro getting out of one. He was to shoot him, when saw a blonde woman jumping in front of him. He mistook her with his own wife, but it was Dojiro's. His doubts about to shoot or not were increased when the couple's young sons joined their fathers. Fraser barely managed to control his rage, letting go of his grief, and let Dojiro live... for the moment.[10]

On June 23rd, Rafe was onboard the Red River again, when the Eridanis departed to space, after executing Dojiro's. Manny found him crying, and he said her thanks for her support, before both joined in an embrace.[11]

Relationships[edit]

Rafe was deeply in love with his wife and her death hit him very hard. Manny showed concern for him and both became close, though it is unknown if they eventually developed feelings for each other.[12]

BattleMech[edit]

Rafe Fraser's only known 'Mech was a Guillotine.[13]
