The Armchair General was a Lyran Commonwealth holovid show presented by retired Lyran Commonwealth Armed Forces officer Thomas Hogarth.[1]

When Thomas Hogarth retired from the LCAF in mid-3082 after more than six decades of service, he was approached by the Donegal Broadcasting Company seeking to take advantage of his fame as the "Hero of the Alliance" during the recently concluded Word of Blake Jihad. Tasking him to host a holovid series intended to advise and educate the average Lyran civilian on military matters, Hogarth expressed concern at intimidating the masses, choosing to ironically name the show The Armchair General to counter this.[1]
