Thus It Shall Stand is a short story by Jason Schmetzer that was published in BattleTech: 25 Years of Art & Fiction.
Plot Summary[edit]
On Coventry, a lance of Wolf's Dragoons fights against Clan Jade Falcon forces. The lance, the third in Delta Regiment's Baker Company, includes two abtakha: Lieutenant Samson Furey, a longtime Dragoon, and MechWarrior Barron, a newly taken bondsman from the Jade Falcons. Barron adjusts slowly to a new, zellbrigen-violating way of fighting.
An engagement with a Falcon star proves difficult for the lance. In particular, a Marauder IIC deals severe damage to much of the lance, disabling Sergeant Benicio Cruz's Enforcer and dealing severe damage to others. With Samson unconscious and his Black Hawk A almost defeated, and with the Marauder IIC looming, it is Barron, finally disregarding zellbrigen, who fells the powerful enemy 'Mech.
