The Twenty-second Royal CAAN Marine Regiment was a part of the Star League Defense Force Regular Army. It was one of the SLDF's Royal units, which consisted of troops from the Terran Hegemony.
History[edit]
Although officially assigned to XIV Corps in the mid-twenty-eighth century, the Twenty-second Royal CAAN deployed with the Fourteenth Fleet either onboard their ships or to the Fourteenth's headquarters on Benjamin. Sometime in the early 2760s, two battalions deployed to the 141st and 144th Squadrons to aid in capturing pirate and bandit ships in the region, with the remainder of the Twenty-second split between the 142nd and 143rd on guard duty and to assist in searching ships suspected of smuggling.[1]
In 2764, the unit was assigned, as a part of the XIV Corps, Fourteenth Army, to District 1 of the Draconis Combine Military Region and then transferred to District 3 by 2765. The Twenty-second survived the Periphery Uprising, the Hegemony Campaign, and followed General Aleksandr Kerensky on the Exodus in 2784.[2]

As an SLDF CAAN regiment, it was composed of BattleMechs, tanks, hovercraft, fighters, naval vessels, and marines.[3]
