The 283rd Battle Cluster were assigned to assault Idlewind as part of the second wave of the Dominion War, The 9th Pesht Regulars commanding officer was killed early in the fighting and the ninth lost all unit cohesion. More than 90% of the unit's soldiers were killed[1].

Urban defense specialists. The Cluster is specialized in defensive tactics because of its long duty as a garrison force. The mobility of the command surprises the enemy often and its medium 'Mechs are used for flanking manuevers. Also not unknown to this unit are rear assaults, when possible. [3]
