The Third Shin Legion was a BattleMech regiment of the Capellan Confederation Armed Forces that was destroyed in the early 3030s while attempting to flee the Confederation.
History[edit]
The Shin Legions were possibly formed at some point during or after the Fourth Succession War, as they were absent from ComStar's version of the CCAF's rosters when the Third Succession War ended.[2] If any of the Shin Legions existed during the Fourth War, their presence or actions were not noteworthy enough to merit inclusion in the NAIS' two volumes on that conflict.[3] [4]
Fearing Romano Liao's paranoia and ruthless purges, the Shin Legion's three regiments decided to flee the Capellan Confederation in the aftermath of the Fourth Succession War. This decision was reinforced by the suspicious death of the Third's commander in an vehicle accident; although the accident was later found to be genuine, the realization that they would never feel safe under Romano Liao's rule spurred the Third and its sister regiments in enacting their plan to flee the Confederation.[1]
Unfortunately Maskirovka agents had penetrated the Third and First Shin Legions, and alerted the spaceport authorities when those units began their journey. While the First was able to escape, the Third Shin Legion perished in a battle which mauled another Capellan regiment and damaged the nearby spaceport.[1]
