Overview

The Sixty-first Infantry Division or the Michigan 61st was a part of the Star League Defense Force Regular Army.[1]

History

The Sixty-first formed a part of XXVII Corps, Eleventh Army, and in 2764 was stationed in District 1 of the Lyran Commonwealth Military Region. Following the New Vandenberg Uprising and subsequent Periphery uprising the Sixty-first was moved to District 2 of the LCMR in 2765 to backfill for units deployed into the periphery.[1]

The Sixty-first spearheaded the assault on the continent of McKenna during the landings on New Earth in 2766. Within days of the initial assault the Division came under widespread WMD attack from Republican forces. [2]

The Sixty-first took heavy losses during the Hegemony Campaign and the division was disbanded by 2780. One sub-unit of the Sixty-first, the 346th Heavy Tank Regiment, survived the fighting and went on to join the Free Worlds League[1]
