Derin Wolf was the commanding officer of the 5th Wolf Cavalry in 3071.[1]

Steel Vipers' Alpha Galaxy attacked Grant's Station in April 3071 and a vicious dogfight broke out as a Trinary of Wolf aerospace fighters and DropShips sallied against the incoming Viper DropShips, destroying two. Only three Wolf fighters survived. The Wolves ground forces employed a rolling defensive line utilizing their vehicles and Elementals. However with the arrival of Clan Goliath Scorpion's Mu Galaxy they withdrew from combat. The Scorpions and the Vipers clashed and the already weakened Vipers were forced to retreat. The Scorpions then challenged the Wolves for their enclave. Star Colonel Derin Wolf was killed by Star Colonel Allison Baba in this engagement and the surviving thirteen Wolf warriors were offered hegira and left for Tranquil.[1]
