Battledroid Spider SPI-5R from Game News #3

In issue 3, Game News published a scenario for Battledroids titled The Sakara Skirmish that was authored by Patrick Larkin. This scenario pitted a raiding party from the Wolf's Dragoons (working for House Kurita) against a hastily assembled force from the 45th Icarian Lancers who were protecting House Steiner supply depots on Sakara. The attacking raiding party, led by captain Michael Sullivan, consists of three Spiders and five other droids, whose arrival were spread out over three turns. The defending forces, led by Captain Reinhardt Tamaguchi, consisted of Captain Tamaguchi's Rifleman and four other droids, some of which has prior damage or disrepair. The attacker's goal was to completely eliminate the defending forces so that they can attack the suppoy depots, while the defenders were seeking to destroy enough of the attackers to force the retreat of the attackers.

Stats for the Spider Battledroid were also included. This Spider Battledroid weighted 30 tons and had jumping capability equivalent to 8 jump jets but it differed in a number of respects from the Spider 'Mech that would appear in TRO 3025. The Spider Battledroid's model number was SPI-5R, had an armament of four medium lasers, and only 6 walking move points. As its jumping movement was greater than its walking movement, it was incompatible with later 'Mech construction rules.

Oct. 1985 No.8

In issue 8, the magazine published a scenario provided by FASA named Bitter End: The Defense of Connor's Pass. The scenario was described as an excerpt from the Tales of the Black Widow Company scenario pack, which was also advertised on the same pages in the magazine, and presented in a similar style, but it does not actually appear in this book.
