Gryff's Hussars were one of the first Capellan Hussars regiments to be formed. They were created by merging three units from the St. Ives Commonality, the St. Ives Mounted Guard, the Knights of Glamorgan, and the Royalston Cavaliers. In 2765 they were one of the longest-serving units in the CCAF and were based on St. Ives. They were the second lightest unit in the Capellan Hussars.[1]
Early in the Second Succession War Gryff's Hussars inflicted heavy losses on elements of the 2nd Avalon Hussars.[2] In 2863 the Hussars defended St. Ives from a daring attack by the 4th Syrtis Fusiliers and Bloody Sons, taking heavy losses.[3] This fighting cost Gryff's Hussars approximately 38% of their strength, reducing them to 42% of their nominal strength.[4]

First Succession War[edit]
- Between 2786 and 2807, the composition of randomly-generated lances from Gryff's Hussars are determined using a single roll on the Random Unit Assignment Tables per lance, with all of the lance 'Mechs being the resulting type. Between 2808 and 2819, the lance composition is determined using two rolls on the Random Unit Assignment Tables per lance, and from 2820 lance composition is determined using one roll per 'Mech per lance.[7]
- When generating Gryff's Hussars forces using Random Unit Assignment Tables during the First Succession War, the Gryff's Hussars receives a +4 modifier to each roll on the appropriate table.[8]
