Lester Kalasa was a bloodnamed member of Clan Sea Fox's touman and, later, a solahma warrior after being disgraced in combat.

History

Lester Kalasa was a member of Clan Sea Fox who won a Kalasa Bloodname and rose to the rank of OvKhan of Delta Aimag of the Tiburon Khanate prior to 3151. In March of that year, Lester's Aimag traveled to the Hamburg system in the Scorpion Empire, desiring to obtain the technical specifications of new Imperial ’Mechs and thus issuing a batchall to seize them. The Scorpion SaKhan Valentina Tazegül accepted on the condition that her lightweight Trinary, part of Hellion Galaxy, be permitted to use their version of zellbrigen, which Lester accepted.

The two forces met on the glacial Horvath Flatlands, with the Sea Foxes landing first. Hellion Keshik, Valentina's bodyguard cluster, then dropped into the Foxes' landing zone, and SaKhan Valentina challenged Lester to a duel. Her Hellion appeared puny compared to the Fox's Cauldron-Born, so he accepted. Tazegül proceeded to charge, weapons blazing, while the rest of her Star turned from their opponents and joined their fire to hers. This barrage rocked Kalasa and he was never allowed to recover, resulting in the downing of his heavy OmniMech and the loss of the Sea Fox's Trial.[1]

Delta Aimag returned to the Chaine Cluster, arriving in July but, before they could land, received a batchall from the Hellion Keshik, which had followed them. The Scorpions trialed for all of the contents of the ovKhan’s JumpShip and DropShips, including both physical and electronic components. Kalasa wasn't able to openly refuse, but agreed if only pure zellbrigen was allowed, and not the Keshik’s personal interpretation, with the Scorpion's rapid agreement leaving the OvKhan fearing the worst. These fears were soon proved accurate: instead of using light 'Mechs, the Scorpions now piloted heavy and assault class machines and the Foxes were quickly defeated, leaving the Keshik free to depart with the entire contents of the OvKhan's ships-- including all personnel who had not fought in the trial.[2]

The double defeat at the Scorpion's hands was a death toll for Kalasa's career, as he was disgraced by his lackluster performance and for underestimating the Hellion Keshik’s commander on two separate occasions. Lester fought a Trial of Grievance in an attempt to retain his rank but lost and was sent to a solahma unit.[3]
