Description[edit]

The Hellion is a product of Clan Ice Hellion and their philosophy that espouses speed above all else. Based on the Mist Lynx, the Hellion is a fast OmniMech that has respectable firepower. This light 'Mech is rather difficult to kill, incorporating five and a half tons of ferro-fibrous armor. To save weight, the Hellion also uses an endo steel chassis. While it is not especially fast for its size, the Hellion does use MASC to allow for bursts of additional speed.[7][8]

The Hellion was one of most popular 'Mechs in Clan Ice Hellion, both by its name and speed, and after the Hellions were absorbed by Clan Goliath Scorpion, it became also very popular in the former Hellions, in Hellion Galaxy (Escorpión Imperio). The honor to pilot one was fiercely fought.[9] In the aftermath of Operation ICE STORM, the Hellion has become a widely used chassis in Clan's Hell's Horses and Jade Falcon as both Clans managed to salvage a large number of the design. The Hell's Horses were so fond of the design they began to manufacture it on Svarstaad.[2]

Weapons and Equipment[edit]

The Hellion sports no fixed weapons on its chassis. The Prime configuration consists of four ER medium lasers as well as a trio of Streak SRM-2s, which make it a potent headhunter 'Mech. It also packs an LRM-10 to harass enemies at range.

Alternate Configurations[edit]

  • Alternate Configuration A
A mobile harassment configuration, the Hellion A has a trio of LRM-10 launchers, allowing it to harass an enemy from long range. For close combat, the 'Mech has a single ER medium laser.[1] BV (1.0) = 1,290[4], BV (2.0) = 1,543[1][10]
  • Alternate Configuration P
The Hellion P is bases around Micro Lasers. Each arm carries a trio of Micro Pulse Lasers. One can also be found in each side torso. The right torso also mounts four ER Micro Laser and an additional double heatsink. Along with the single Micro Pulse Laser in the left torso is the mech’s primary anti-mech weaponry in the form of three Improved Heavy Medium Lasers. A TAG Laser is mounted in the head, and both an ECM Suite and Supercharger are mounted in the CT. While particulary effective against infantry, this variant can also threaten tanks and mechs with its sheer volume of firepower up close. BV (2.0) = 1,685[2]
  • Alternate Configuration T
The Hellion T, like most T variants, is visually nearly identical to the Prime. The Prime’s trio of Streak SRM-2s remain, but their ammo has been removed rendering them as Improved One-Shot versions of the launchers. The LRM-10 remains unchanged. The head mounted ER Medium Laser has been changed to an ER Small Laser. All three-arm mounted [[ER Medium Laser]s have been replaced with Medium Pulse Lasers. This variant trades overall volume of firepower for increased accuracy. BV (2.0) = 1,637[2]

Design Quirks[edit]

The Hellion has the following Design Quirks:[17]

Related OmniMechs[edit]

  • Mist Lynx - Clan Ice Hellion increased the mass of the Mist Lynx OmniMech, resulting in the Hellion. This new 'Mech is just as fast as the Mist Lynx even without the use of MASC, but carries full armor and can mount over 50% more mass in pod space.

Notes[edit]

  • In German products, the unit's proper name was altered to Eisteufel, which literally means Ice Devil. This was supposedly done since the perfect translation Teufelsbraten has a rather diminutive connotation in German.
