Description

The FB-335 Longhaul is a large fixed wing conventional air transport build by the Federated-Boeing company during the thirty-first century. The company built the aircraft to be rugged and able take-off and fly from short and rough airfields.[1][2]

Originally, the aircraft was produced for intent as a logistic transport for the Armed Forces of the Federated Suns' Department of the Quartermaster. The aircraft's performance was scrutinized during a series of test flights. The aircraft was not only accepted by the AFFS Quartermaster, but a number of civilian companies purchased the durable and low maintenance aircraft for their own fleets. Despite its rugged landing gear and thrust reverser equipped engines, it cannot use a completely rough airstrip. It doesn't take much engineering to make a suitable air field for the Longhaul however.[1][2]

Equipment and Capabilities

The Longhaul is built on a STOL Chassis, which allows aircraft to be able to operate from small airfields despite its size. The standard version of the aircraft is fitted out to carry 100 tons worth of cargo. This cargo bay can be accessed through large roll-on/roll-off drive through doors in the front and rear of the aircraft. Smaller personnel sized access hatches are located along the right and left sides of the fuselage.[1][2]

In addition to its cargo capacity, the Longhaul is fitted to accommodate 26 passengers with a galley and restrooms for long-duration flights.[1][2]

Variants

The Longhaul has been designed to be able to change out its capacities with modules. The AFFS has used this capacity to be able to switch the aircraft to handle troop transport role or even utilized as a Mobile Headquarters.

Civilian users of the aircraft sometimes fit the aircraft as additional passenger seats and needed fitting. These craft are able to handle 700 passengers for long-duration flights.[1][2]

Notes

As of this writing there are no published record sheets available for the Longhaul or its variants.

The aircraft's module abilities are noted in the original TRO text, however these reconfigurable modules are fluff only and there are no game mechanics involved.
