Description

The Templar III is a Dark Age era Assault Class OmniMech, first produced by General Motors for the Federated Suns. It was intended as replacement for the original Templar, whose factory lines were destroyed during the Jihad. General Motors established a new production line on New Valencia for what was to become the next generation of the Templar with newer technologies.

As like its predecessor, the Templar III is typically utilizes as Command 'Mech by AFFS forces. With its alternated configurations the 'Mech is able handle various combat situations using its Advanced equipment.[2]

Armament and Capacities

Among the most noticeable differences in comparing the original Templar to the Templar III is it's smaller Pod Capacity. The new 'Mech has a 29 ton Pod capacity in comparison to the old Templar's 40 tons. However, the 'Mech's heavier Light Engine proves for an improvement in the design durability while its retaining the original design's maximum speed and armor protection.

The Prime Configuration of the Templar III is not unlike the older WHM-8D Warhammer weapons load out. The Configuration is armed with older design's ER PPCs, Extended-Ranged Medium and Small Lasers and while uniquely having a single 4-Tubed Short-Range Missile Launcher instead of the 6-tubed Launcher. All of its energy weapons are tied together with a Targeting Computer and cooled down by four additional Double Heat Sinks. The launcher's ammunition is protected by the Templar III's permanently mounted CASE found in its right torso.[3]

Alternate Configurations

  • Alt. Config. B - Advanced Tech configuration, this weapons arrangement includes side-torso mounted ER PPC, with six Small X-Pulse Lasers. Additionally, B Configuration is intended for close-assault with melee weapons and assistance of four Jump Jets. Its melee weapons include a right arm mounted Hatchet, while the left arm has a Chain Whip. To help it get to its intended target quickly, the 'Mech is fitted with a Supercharger. BV(2.0)= 1,919[5]

Notes

The Templar III appeared gamewise as part of Wizkids' MechWarrior Dark Age Collectable Miniatures game as part of its Falcon Prey expansion set. It was later adapted by Catalyst Game Labs and redefined once the company advanced the timeline to 3145.
