Most of Lushann Industrials’ markets beyond the borders of the Outworlds Alliance were worlds of the Federated Suns. In the current uncertainty there is no indication whether many of those markets are still in a position to buy what Lushann builds. For want of guaranteed markets, many of the assembly lines, while fully operational, remain silent.

This section lists all the cohesive commands present or arriving during the entire Luthien campaign (in chronological order from December of 3067 through its liberation in December of 3074). Each synopsis lists the unit’s arrival date on Luthien; if there is no end date, the unit was present during the entirety of the campaign (Dec 3074). The Average Experience is the unit’s average experience rating in terms of how many veteran warriors are present in a Lance/Star/Level II formation.
1st Genyosha [Samurai] (Dec 3067)

CO: Tai-sa Shih Chou

Average Experience: 3

RAT: House Kurita, House Davion, FMDC, FMU

Force Abilities: During the Initiative Phase, the Genyosha receive a +1 Initiative for each enemy combatant destroyed in the previous turn; they receive a –1 Initiative for every Genyosha unit destroyed in the previous turn.

Notes: The First Genyosha was a heavy regiment commanded by the unit’s second-in-command at the beginning of the struggle, as Hohiro Kurita was on Tharkad. They were augmented by nearly a battalion of survivors from the Fourteenth Sun Zhang Cadre in early February of 3068. By the end of the conflict, the unit had been reduced to two reinforced companies. Sorenson’s Sabres operated as an independent company under nominal command by the Genyosha, used as a flanking and reserve force in larger engagements. The Sabres left Luthien in 3071 and reappeared under Chandrasekhar’s command on Arcturus in 3073.

Lushann

Lushann Industrials Limited

Lushann Industrials Limited has long been the premier producer of combat lasers in the region. The Lushann “Redbeam” large laser is known for its over-engineered durability, though its boxy design makes it better suited to heavy tanks than BattleMechs. Lushann brings other systems to the table through Mitchell Avellar’s far-reaching mutual investment program with the Draconis Combine, which contributed to Lushann Industrials’ full licensing agreement with Diverse Optics Incorporated of Kessel. Lushann produces several Diverse Optics weapons systems—including the Sunbeam extended-range large laser, a variety of pulse lasers, Zippo plasma-based flamers, and several models of lighter—and less expensive—Magna pulse lasers.

Despite its importance to the Alliance, Lushann Industrials Limited is actually the planet Lushann’s smaller industry. Though now a semi-arctic wasteland from pole to pole, for millions of years Lushann was thick with vegetation; great swamps and forests covered the globe. As a result Lushann is the largest producer of petrochemicals in the region. Employees of the oil giants outnumber those of the weapons manufacturer by a margin of almost two to one; almost everyone on the planet works for one giant or the other.

One would expect a world boasting two such vital industries to have been a regular target of the Blakists, but there is little evidence the Word of Blake took significant interest in the planet. Or it may be that they chose to avoid the First Regiment of the Fourth Alliance Air Wing, garrisoned on Lushann’s southern continent. Some speculate that the fact that all LIL manufacturing facilities are located underground— and thus impervious to most assaults—prevented attack. Whatever the reason, Lushann Industries Limited came the conflicts relatively unscathed.
