User talk:Scaletail

Welcome, Scaletail, to BattleTechWiki!

Thank you for your contributions; you seem to be off to a good start. Hopefully you will soon join the army of BattleTech Editors! If you need help formatting the pages visit the manual of style. For general questions go to the Help section or the FAQ. If you can't find your answer there, please ask an Admin. If you have any more questions after that, feel free to ask me directly on my user talk page.

Additional tips

Here's some extra tips to help you get around in the wiki:

  • For policies and guidelines, see The Five Pillars of BattleTechWiki.
  • If you want to play around with your new wiki skills, the Sandbox is for you. Don't worry: you won't break anything. A great resource for printing out is the Wiki Cheat Sheet.
  • Consider registering at the site (if you haven't already). That way, you'll get name recognition and respect for the effort you put in here.
  • Also considering writing something about yourself on your UserPage (marked as Scaletail at the top of the page). You'll go from being a 'redshirt' to a 'blueshirt,' with the respect of a more permanent member.
  • Introduce yourself at the new user log.
  • In your Preferences, under the edit tab, check Add pages I create to my watchlist and Add pages I edit to my watchlist, so that you can see how your efforts have affected the community. Check back on each visit by clicking on my watchlist.
  • If you're bored and want to find something to do, try the Random button in the sidebar, or check out the List of Wanted Pages. Or even go to Special Pages to see what weird stuff is actually tracked by this wiki.
  • Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date.

Boo

Wasn't sure you'd stick it out, but it seems like you're going to. Glad to have you aboard. Don't mind Revanche's big-arse welcome, from what I've seen it seems you know what you're doing. :-P --Xoid 08:17, 23 December 2006 (CST)

Thanks

Thanks for jump-starting the contributions again Scaletail. It kind of died off for a few weeks. You've encouraged me to start contributing on some of my projects again :) Nicjansma 11:44, 26 March 2007 (CDT)

Wecome

Hey, Welcome to the BattleMechs team. I have done alot of these myself and I really appreciate having sone else on board actively atsrting articles because as im sure you have noticed it is much harder to start an article then it is to edit one. Thanks. CJKeys 21:06, 17 April 2007 (CDT)

Inner Sphere Mechs are Done

After working on this for around seven months I am proud to announce that all of the mainstream Inner Sphere 'Mechs that have a TRO entry are finished. I know as the game goes on this will be a continuing process but now we are oficially ahead of the curve on the Inner Sphere 'Mechs and Im sure the Clan 'Mechs wont take too long. The Solaris VII 'Mechs are a creature unto themselves and once I actually buy Map Pack Solaris VII I will start working on those as I have already scanned images for them. I would like to congratulate the whole team. Without everyone here we woudlnt have ever gotten this far. So dont be suprised if you also get this on each of your discussion pages.CJKeys 00:57, 19 May 2007 (CDT)

Timeline confirmation

Hi, here in the federated suns page [[1]], in the "Rulers" section, the present ruler of the federated suns is caleb davion, starting from 3135 - PRESENT. There are other sources in the wiki, but i thought i better use your article as a reference, does this point out that the current "Mechwarrior: Dark Age" timeline by wizkids is canon? and despite leaning more to previous era's, the Battletech Wiki Community is still treating the year 3135 onwards as the official PRESENT-time? Does that mean that PRESENT-time articles are merged with historical/old era's articles?

ex : in the Atlas mech page, while other mechs like the Mad Cat, actually had a lot of Evolutions in the form of its mark II,III,IV variations, the Atlas has always been portrayed as the same Atlas with no portrayal of it ever being revamped and evlolving it into a nex-gen mech of the same type(like the mad cat variations), BUT, loadouts and specifications of the new atlas in the MWDA by wizkids are somewhat different the the original Atlas. Sh ould a contributer just merely create ANOTHER Atlas mech article to portray its current form OR just merged it with the curren article by the team, as a sort of addition to the already written information?

sorry for asking wayyyyy to many questions, i wanna make sure aout some stuff before actually doing something on the wiki, dont want to step on anybody's toes. Agus101186 03:33, 2 August 2007 (CDT)

I think it's a great point. I'm not sure that, given the depth of BTech material, we should use the term "present". It may just be a stylistic thing, but for some players "present" means 3026, others 3056 and still others 3135. It's a pretty disingenuous term and I think even WP shies away from it. Thoughts?
