Jasmine was an Order of Five Pillars team leader.[1]

History[edit]

Chairman Edward Nakamura of the Dieron Military District rapidly expanded his influence and brought about an economic boom that spread throughout the region, benefiting those such as Warlord Vasily Cherenkoff, but Warlord Hirushi Shotugama developed resentment that the prosperity in Nakamura's district didn't seem to be crossing the border into his own. He partnered with the Internal Security Force sometime around 3030 (see notes) to strike at the Chairman and restore a more balanced growth between the districts; however, the O5P had been secretly supporting Nakamura and didn't want to see him removed. Furthermore, there was a concern that the ISF's decision to masquerade its attack force as a House Davion unit would trigger retaliatory strikes by Warlord Cherenkoff on the Federated Suns, potentially spiraling into another great war.[1]

Before the ISF operation could get underway, O5P forces lead by Neophyte Jasmine assaulted the ISF staging area on Kaus Media, forcing them to shift their initial LZ to Alya. The change of plans didn't confuse the O5P for long, as another preemptive strike postponed their attack further.[1] Though the O5P took losses in the two engagements, enough damage had been dealt to the ISF unit that when they moved on Nakamura's headquarters on Minakuchi, all their remaining troops were destroyed. Nakamura was safe and the O5P was free to continue using him to serve their purposes.[2]

Notes[edit]

  • While Nakamura's first name is never mentioned in MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries, the context and available information suggest a likely match with Edward Nakamura.
  • Vasily Cherenkoff and Hirushi Shotugama were both Warlords and alive between 3025 and 3034, and Seville Newbury was the governor of the Dieron Military District in 3025,[3] making the time period for this apocryphal O5P–ISF conflict fall in the late 3020s at the earliest, given that Nakamura had been expanding his influence "in recent years" by that point.
  • In MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries, the player has the option to continue working for the ISF after the first two missions, culminating with the targeted takedown of Neophyte Jasmine on Shimosuwa and Nakamura's assets seized and redistributed. Because Edward Nakamura is identified as the district governor in 3067,[4] this article was written to be consistent with BattleTech canon.
