Zeke Carleton, an officer of the Silver Hawk Irregulars, was among the Irregulars killed in what would later be known as the Helm massacre[1].

History[edit]

Zeke was stationed on Helm in 3138 along with the Silver Hawk Irregulars, confronting the invading forces of Operation Hammerfall. On March 28, driving a modified AgroMech, he adopted the guise of a harmless farmer when Clan Wolf forces landed, leading them into minefields laid by Zeke and his forces. Once they crossed the minefields, Zeke and other Irregulars engaged them, seeking to contain their movement. Despite sustaining losses, the Irregulars succeeded in impeding the Wolves' advance[2]. When battle moved to Helmsdown on 28 April, now piloting an Ocelot, he fought the First Hesperus Guards in a delaying action. After being ordered to retreat ee was forced to abandon one of his men to save the rest, fighting a Jaguar to do so[3].

Near the conclusion of the Battle of Helm (3138), Captain-General Anson Marik ordered a retreat offworld, strategically leaving two companies of the Silver Hawk Irregulars to delay the invading forces of Operation Hammerfall. The remaining officers, Fred Parsons and Zeke Carleton, had conflicting views on the course of action[4]. Fred advocated for surrender and contacted Duke Vedet Brewer, seeking terms. However, as Zeke ordered his men to continued to fight, Clan Wolf forces charged both companies, killing any Irregular, whether they had surrendered or not. Fred attempted to inform Brewer of the situation, but with Brewer unable to control the Clan Wolf forces, the remaining Irregulars were killed in what later became known as the Helm massacre. Zeke's last words before being killed were insults to Brewer[1].

BattleMech[edit]

Zeke's first 'Mech on Helm was an armed AgroMech[2], and in his final battle he piloted an Ocelot.[3]
