History
The Fourth Liao Guards were formed shortly after the Third Liao Guards at the request of the Strategios. The CCAF commanders realized that the Third was unlikely to provide any militarily-valuable service to the Confederation, so the Fourth was formed. They were known for being dedicated soldiers who had little time for the "pomp and circumstance" of the other Liao Guards units. After their successful garrison of Asuncion, they received their nickname "Asuncion Halberdiers."[1]
Succession Wars Era
Just before the First Succession War began, the Fourth were stationed on Snailzar in 2765.[1] At outbreak of the war, the Fourth along its other brigade members fought the Free Worlds League advanced into the Sarna Commonality.[2] Unlike some of it's brigade members, the unit would survive the onslaught of the conflict, with barely less than half strength left by 2821.[3]
By 2830, the unit had manage regain most of it's fighting power at dawn of the Second Succession War, however would not survive the brutal fighting of the conflict.[4]
Dark Age Era
Reformation
The Fourth Liao Guards were reformed sometime before Operation GREAT FLOOD as one of the Hidden Lion regiments resurrected by Chancellor Daoshen Liao using stockpiled equipment.[2] The new Liao Guards used the Augmented Regiment formations commonly found in the CCAF by 3145.[5] They were a front-line regiment of the Tikonov Commonality.[6]
Operation GREAT FLOOD
During Operation GREAT FLOOD, the Fourth Liao Guards replaced the Third Sian Dragoons following the latter's 18 month failure to pacify Tall Trees. The Fourth engaged the rebel Tall Trees Union in a counterinsurgency campaign that saw the complete destruction of the group.[2]
Operation CELESTIAL REWARD
The Fourth Liao Guards were still stationed on Tall Trees when Operation CELESTIAL REWARD began. They therefore did not participate in the campaign.[2]
Officers
The Fourth Liao Guards were commanded by Sang-shao Sarita Krishnavati in 3145.[7]
