The Ålborg system is the location of at least one inhabited planet and as at 3066 is one of four independent worlds populated by the JàrnFòlk.[1]

System Description

The Ålborg system is located in the Deep Periphery; the region occupied by the JàrnFòlk lies partly inside the Vela Nebula and lies approximately 300 light years spinward and coreward of the Draconis Combine and coreward of the region of space occupied by the Star League era Outworlds Alliance.[2]

System History

The JàrnFòlk who settled in the Ålborg system were intent on escaping from the Draconis Combine's predatory behavior towards the Principality of Rasalhague, and had set out on their journey as explorer-traders in the 2480s. The Ålborg system was the first of four systems to be colonized by the JàrnFòlk.[3]

Ålborg III

Ålborg III - more commonly referred to simply as Ålborg - is the third planet in the Ålborg system and has two moons named Sjæland and Skåne.[1]

Planetary History

The first JàrnFòlk set foot on Ålborg on the 16th of July 2504, and it was this date that the JàrnFòlk used in the future as the date their "nation" - in so much as the JàrnFòlk worlds can be considered a nation - was founded.[2]

By the mid-thirty-second century almost half of the total JàrnFòlk population lived on Ålborg, a testament to the planet's habitability and fertility. The temperate climate and rich soil of Ålborg allowed farming to flourish, and helped make the families that lived there some of the most powerful within the Jàrnfòlk.[1]

Ålborg's riches weren't limited to its farmland; the planet was also rich in minerals, and the western continent supplied many of the materials used in crafting the firearms for which the Jàrnfòlk were famous. This led two of the families on Ålborg, the Jensens and the Skjolden, to largely control the planetary government; despite this political influence, their main area of power was economic, particularly around the planetary capital, Christiana.[1]

In common with the other Jàrnfòlk worlds, the population of Ålborg spoke a composite language derived from a number of ancient Scandinavian languages, with the bulk of the language drawn from Danish and Old Norse; as with the other worlds, the dialect on Ålborg had shifted, such that it remained comprehensible to the JàrnFòlk of other worlds, while remaining unique to Ålborg. One of the more notable linguistic variations was that the term "Jàrnfòlk" itself actually appeared most commonly as "Jernfòlk" on Ålborg.[3]
