History

Thirty-second Marik Militia was one of a dozen regiments of the Marik Militia to be raised in the period between the eruption of the Amaris Civil War in 2765[1] and the onset of the First Succession War in 2786.[2]

At the start of the First Succession War the Thirty-second was stationed on Ellijay, one of the worlds in the region known as the Bolan Thumb.[2] In April[3] 2794 the Thirty-second defended Ellijay when it was attacked by the Ninth Lyran Regulars, as part of a sustained operation by the Lyran Commonwealth Armed Forces to annex the entire Bolan Thumb. The fighting turned against the Thirty-second and they were forced to retreat off planet[4][3] by the end of August.[3]

By 2809 the Thirty-second had become one of three regiments involved in the diehard defense of Acrux, one of the last systems in the Bolan Thumb to remain under the nominal control of the League. Fighting alongside the Eighth and the Twelfth Bolan Defenders the Thirty-second fought off attacks by the Nineteenth Lyran Regulars and the Twentieth Syke Rangers during 2809-10,[5] the invading Lyran forces landed in November 2809 and fought for three months, finally being pushed off-world at the end of Feb 2810.[6] In 2811 the Regulars and Rangers were reinforced by two additional regiments from the Donegal Guards - the Ninth and the Sixteenth for a massed assault that destroyed both Bolan Defenders regiments and forced the Thirty-second off world,[5] with the Lyran forces finally capturing Acrux in May.[6]
