Sarna March Militia

Originally known as the Achernar Sarna March Militia. With the formation of the Republic of the Sphere, the planetary defense became a Republic Standing Guard unit.

History[edit]

The unit was defending Achenar in 3038.

After the 3057 Marik-Liao offensive that claimed much of the Sarna March, the Militia was placed under the control of the Capellan March Militia.[1]

During the FedCom Civil War, the Achernar CMM fought for Katherine Steiner-Davion. During the later waves of the Civil War, the Achernar CMM was heavily damaged. Achernar officially became part of the Capellan March Militia in 3067, after the FedCom Civil War ended.[1] The fighting of the Civil War reduced them to approximately half their pre–Civil War strength.[2]

Jihad[edit]

Achernar BattleMechs maintained a factory named the West Fabrication Facility on Achernar, which for a long time was a producer of IndustrialMechs. When the Word of Blake captured Achernar, it rebuilt some of the production lines within the West Fabrication Facility to produce either (or both of) the OSP-25 Osprey or OSP-26 Osprey BattleMech.[3][4] The West Fabrication Facility was completely destroyed in June 3077 when the Achernar Protectorate Militia ignored the surrender issued by the planetary governor to the allied coalition forces and instead dug in around the plant, forcing the task force on the Federated Suns front of Operation SCOUR to root out the militia from the factory complexes, leveling its facilities in the process.[5]

Achernar Protectorate Militia[edit]

As long as a Protectorate Militia force is fighting on its homeworld and is acting as the scenario's Defender, the Protectorate Militia force receives the Force the Initiative and Off-Map Movement special abilities. If deployed as the Attacker in a scenario, the Protectorate Militia force loses its Force the Initiative ability, but retains its Off-Map Movement capability.

If deployed on a world other than its homeworld (such as an Epsilon Eridani force being deployed on Genoa), the Protectorate Militia force not only loses all of its special abilities, but also suffers a –2 Initiative modifier.

Although Blakist-based, Protectorate Militia forces may use standard Inner Sphere force arrangements (Lances, Companies, and Battalions) rather than Word of Blake force arrangements.[17]
