Planetary Info

Campoleone is part of the Rim Commonality, a group of planets along the Free Worlds League/Periphery border. Cooler than many worlds its agricultural output is enough to feed the population, but no more. Campoleone's population and resources are so poorly developed because it's little more than a stop-over point for traders and explorers heading into the Periphery and Deep Periphery. It's also popular with retired spacers, who appreciate its harsh beauty.

This large population of retired spacers, combined with the trading and exploration route, makes Campoleone's population one of the most well-informed storehouses of knowledge in the Free Worlds League. The spacers have seen much and traveled far. Campoleone is also the home of the Voidjumper's Memorial, a monument that honors the passengers and crew of lost League JumpShips. At its center is the "Angel of Campoleone" a myomer-kinetic sculpture that stands 20 meters tall. Surrounding the sculpture are the keepsakes and reminders left by the families of the lost ships. Currently these mementos cover three acres on the peak of Mount Kenley-Maccan.

The only export offered by the world is ginja wood, an exotic hardwood much like ebony, that is prized by craftsman across the Free Worlds League. Unfortunately efforts to grow this wood commercially have all failed to produce the high quality product provided naturally.
