Planetary Info

Dar-es-Salaam ("Haven of Peace") is a desert world. Even the polar regions have higher temperatures than other worlds, and deserts can be found there as well. With it's harsh environment, Dar-es-Salaam was bypassed by early colonization efforts. It wasn't until the mid-25th century that colonists landed on the world.[1]

These colonists were of Muslim origin and settled on Dar-es-Salaam because its terrain reminded them of the North African and Middle Eastern regions of Terra that had been their home for centuries. As a result, Dar-es-Salaam has become the center of the Muslim faith in the Lyran Commonwealth.[1]
