Long considered the premier units of the FWLM, the Free Worlds Guards jealously guarded that reputation following the creation of the Knights of the Inner Sphere. Created at the same time as the Free Worlds League, the Guards drew forces from across the League.

History

The brigade had their roots in 10 conventional regiments which where authorized during the early years of the Free worlds League. [1] The brigade was one of few larger commands without the influence of the parlament. With Resolution 288 the brigade answers directly to the Captain General. From the six regiments after the collapse of the Star League two of them were destroyed during the Succession Wars era. In addition, the 4th Guards were destroyed on Tsingtao, when they were surprised by the presence of the deadly Black Widow Company (Wolf's Dragoons). Worse yet for the FWLM, the survivors of the 4th joined the AFFS. [1][2]

After the dissolution of the Free Worlds League, regiments of the Free Worlds Guards joined several different nations. Most ended up with former Free Worlds states, but some joined the Word of Blake and The Republic of the Sphere.[3]

Officer

The commanding officer in 3059 was General Tamara Findlay. [1]

Forces

The equipment and the quality of the soldiers are only a step after the Knights of the Inner Sphere. The 1st and 2nd Guards are combat units with the best material available, because the 3rd are the training cadre for the other units of the brigade. [1]
