Jacob Cameron (Born 2416 - Died 2461)[1] was a House Cameron noble, Naval Officer, and the 8th Director-General of the Terran Hegemony.

Character Description

Jacob was known to have superior complex which he developed as child. He possessed a strident and aggressive attitude until an assassination attempt was made on him. His personality poisoned his relationship with general public to the point of alienation.[2]

History

Early Life and Career

Jacob was the child of Director-General Richard Cameron and Northwind Countess Jessica Dravens. Jacob was spoiled by his dotting father, while his mother influenced him to believe he was morally and socially superior to the general public. This shaped him into arrogant man.

He grew up to become an officer in the Hegemony Armed Forces Navy. He steadily rose through the ranks to become Captain of the Vincent Class Corvette, THS Beatrice. His career was cut short, however, when his father died of a heart attack in 2433 while taking tour on Terra. [3][4]

As Director-General of the Terran Hegemony

The Federated-Capellan Campaign of 2435

After becoming Director-General, a few years into reign he would launch a military campaign into the Federated Suns and Capellan Confederation. The offensive that ended in 2435 only resulted in minor successes, where it many of the HAF's personnel died to sate Jacob's ego. Lives lost for his personal desires did not set well with the general public of the Hegemony. He daily petition for what viewed lazy people for their support of his campaign. Anti-establishment movements cropped up who began counter Jacob and his supporting minions. These groups ranged from disgruntle youths whom rioted in streets, to members of government and nobility who banded together to move have him removed from office.

The BattleMech and the Assassination Attempt

Final Developments of the first BattleMech, Mackie, had come to fruition . After seeing the successful test of the prototype in 2439, he drove his government's budget to limit to mass produce factories and their product for several years.

In February 2448, Jacob was poisoned by unknown party. Fortunately for him, he had drank enough of the poisoned champagne. Deadly ill, he order a communication blackout of the situation, he instructed Hegemony Central Intelligence Department conduct what became largest manhunt Hegemony had ever known, led by Lady Terens Amaris.

The attempt on his life slightly changed Jacob's attitude. His arrogance and superiority complex he was once known for faded slightly. He became more charitable to public by establishing the Cameron Shelters for the Poor and Cameron Mercy Hospitals.[5]

In February 2455, Lyran commandos stole plans for the BattleMech from Hegemony's world of Hesperus II. [6] After the Draconis Combine stole the plans from Lyrans five years later in 2461, Jacob accelerates development and production of his BattleMech technology to the point where other areas of his military would be neglected, including its WarShip Navy. [7]

His efforts build up his military succeeded, but he nearly ruined Hegemony's economy in the efforts. Months after begun push more BattleMech technology, he would die of a stroke.[8]

Family & Legacy

Year after becoming Director-General, Jacob, would marry actress Constance Zel. She would bore him a son named Theodore in 2434.[9]

Notes

In Jacob Cameron's write up in the original Star League sourcebook, it notes his son partipating in the Battle of Tybalt in 2435. However, Cameron Family Tree shows him being born un 2434. Making virtually impossible to partipate in this campaign as 1 year old.[10].[11]
