Description[edit]

Built by Johnson Industries, the JI-50, commonly known by its nickname "Jifty", was a commonplace design in the Federated Suns during the late thirty-first century.[2]

The Jifty was used to bring repair capacities to broken and downed units in the field.[2]

The vehicle was primarily produced on New Syrtis at Johnson's auxiliary manufacturing wings, though by 3069 the Johnson Industries have given permits to smaller companies to manufacture them.[2]

The various invasions during the early parts of the Jihad, had numbers of the Jifty fall into other factions' hands. This happened primarily during the Taurian invasion 3067 and House Liao's Operation THUNDERSTRIKE has spread the vehicle into the hands of neighboring factions.[2]

Equipment and Capabilities[edit]

The vehicle is equipped with a pair of lift hoists able to handle cargo or salvage. The vehicle has a crew of 6 with 2 serving as gunners for the Jifty's two light machine guns.[2]

Cargo[edit]

The Jifty is equipped with a cargo bay with 19.5 ton capacity with an accessible door in the rear.[2]

Variants[edit]

  • JI-50 (Hoist) - Field modification that has all its weaponry dropped for a third lift hoist, but with reduced cargo capacity. BV (2.0) = 231[4]
  • JI-50 (MG) - Field modification that dropped the light machine guns for two standard machine guns. BV (2.0) = 231[5]
  • JI-50 (ML) - Field modification that adds a pair of medium lasers added at the cost of its cargo capacity. BV (2.0) = 304[6]
  • JI-50 (Q-Vehicle) - Custom vehicle rumored to be designed for ambush busting. Exchanges its cargo capacity for its fill of eight SRM-4 launchers and ammunition.[2] BV (2.0) = 523[7]
  • "Nifty" - Produced by Blue Bull, Inc., this vehicle is an ICE-powered knockoff of the Jifty that appeared during the Jihad. Johnson attempted to sue to patent violation, but failed due to the chaotic events of the war. BV (2.0) = 113[8]
