Kosssandra's Memory was a newly-settled colony when the Star League invaded the Magistracy of Canopus in 2577, a colony established by the Magistracy Armed Forces as a redoubt for MAF units, and as the SLDF task force under the command of Captain-General Marion Marik pushed ever deeper into the Magistracy, Kossandra's Memory was used as a base of operations for the MAF commander, Colonel Adam Buquoy.[4]

The SLDF learned of the existence of Kossandra's Memory during the invasion, steadily pushing the MAF forces back to the frontier world despite the fierce and skilled resistance offered by the MAF. When Marik finally invaded Kossandra's Memory in 2588, the last two active regiments in the MAF were on the planet; Buquoy's Bandits and the 2nd Canopian Light Horse. Numbering just a few mismatched battalions, the MAF units still contested the landing, under the command of Buquoy himself; Marik landed the 62nd Royal Brigade on Kossandra's Memory, along with the 1st Marik Militia and the 3rd Regulan Hussars, in what would be the final campaign of the war against the Magistracy.[4][11]

Marik led three regiments personally in the battle against Buquoy's Forces; Buquoy tried to trick Marik into making rash attacks that he could capitalise on, but Marik kept her cool and used her superior numbers to grind the Canopian forces down. With the last of the Magistracy forces finally defeated after eleven years of campaigning, the war between the Magistracy and the Star League finally ended when Marik accepted Buquoy's surrender with a firm handshake.[4]
