Planetary History
Dark Age
During the Dark Age the harvest of speckled-back prairie squid by local company Cephaloped Food Alternatives Ltd. on Mermentau became somewhat famous, attracting spectators and Holovid coverage; the harvest consisted of wrangling the large, aggressive prairie squid into cargo containers distributed around the Alpena Plains. Bishop Transport VTOls were used to perform the wrangling, as prairie squid reacted to the hum of the two sets of dual rotors mounted on each Bishop. Undoubtedly adding to the public interest in the spectacle was the fact that the prairie squid were capable of grappling with - and even dragging down - Bishops that flew too low.[10]
