History

As of April 3062, the Aegis-class heavy cruiser Promise was a WarShip within the Clan Nova Cat touman and as such was serving the Second Star League as the SLS Promise within the Vision Naval Star. Also serving in the Vision Naval Star were two sister ships to the Promise, the SLS Blood Oath and the SLS Bond.[2]

The Promise continued to serve in the Vision Naval Star at least until the beginning of the Jihad,[3] but both sister vessels were reported to have been among the seven Nova Cat WarShips lost during a Trial of Possession conducted against Clan Ghost Bear for control of the Leviathan-class battleship CGB Rasalhague in May 3067.[4] Following the loss of the Blood Oath and the Bond, the Vision Naval Star was joined by another Aegis-class sister vessel to the Promise, the SLS Path of Honor.[3]

Serving as a part of the Nova Cat contribution to war efforts against the Word of Blake, the NCS Promise was lost in action during the Jihad.[5] The Promise was lost during the battle for New Home; the Coalition forces had anticipated fighting the Third Sirian Lancers and a Shadow Division on New Home, but the arrival of two more Shadow Divisions in a hugely risky jump that saw them arrive barely light-minutes from orbit threatened to destroy the Coalition forces.[1] Commanded by Star Admiral Alice Lenardon, the Promise drove through Blakist aerospace forces above New Home while taking heavy fire from the WoBS Lioness to launch an orbital bombardment against the Forty-seventh Shadow Division.[6] Although the Promise was lost, the orbital strike hit the Forty-seventh directly, giving Stone's Lament a chance to launch a full counterattack that wiped out almost all the survivors from the Forty-seventh before linking up with additional forces led by General Belle Lee. As it was, Ryuken-roku and the Second FedSuns Armored Cavalry were effectively destroyed in the battle for New Home, and both the Battle Corps Legion and the Nova Cat Sigma Galaxy both lost almost three-quarters strength, but without the sacrifice made by the Promise, the casualties would've been worse.[1]
