Description[edit]
A product of the Kendall BattleMech factory rebuilt as a collaboration between Kali Yama and the Alphard Trading Corporation, the Quasimodo was intended from the outset to be the next generation of the venerable Hunchback 'Mech.[1][2] The Quasimodo debuted in the arena on Solaris VII, where the medium 'Mech defeated a Hellstar, demonstrating the ability of a superior pilot and a well-designed machine to triumph over a much heavier 'Mech piloted by an inferior pilot.[1][2] However, the facts that the Quasimodo is equipped with a specialized anti-PPC Blue Shield Particle Field Damper and the Hellstar's only weapons are PPC-based must have helped.
The designers of the Quasimodo echoed a number of elements from variants of the Hunchback, including Rawlings 45 jump jets to allow the design to jump as well as a weapons load reminiscent of the HBK-4P Hunchback, but they weren't limited by what had come before. The Quasimodo was 10% heavier than its progenitor, and incorporated Triple Strength Myomers, a Blue Shield Particle Field Damper and a Full-Head Ejection System.[1][2]
Weapons and Equipment[edit]
The Quasimodo is built on a Crucis Type V chassis and powered by a Hermes 275 XL extralight engine, both bulky and lightweight technologies that are protected by 11.5 tons of Durallex Tensile-4 standard armor. Thanks to these, the 'Mech is able to move up to 86.4 km/h, and even up to 97.2 km/h should its TSM be activated; this speed is supplemented by five Rawlings 45 jump jets that allow leaps of up to 150 meters.
The Quasimodo mounts an all-energy loadout, with a trio of Diverse Optics Type 47V medium variable speed pulse lasers in the right torso, a Magna Mk. VI ER medium laser in each arm, and a Magna Mk. IV ER small laser in the head. The 'Mech is protected by a cutting-edge Blue Shield Particle Field Damper, giving superior protection against PPC-style weapons, so long as the equipment continues running, and the pilot is protected by a Full-Head Ejection System.[1][2]
Variants[edit]
As of 3145 no variants of the Quasimodo had been introduced to service.[1][2]
Design Quirks[edit]
The Quasimodo was not subject to any Design Quirks.[1][2]
